This is a mixture of glycoprotein and polysaccharides predominantly consist of arabinose and galactose. It is soluble in water, edible and used primarily in the food industry as a stabilizer with EU E number E141. It is good for both animals and humans consumption and considered as a safe dietary fibre by the United States Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), since the1970’s. It is found to reduce diseases such as diarrhea, sore throat, kidney wounds, gum infections, etc. It is mostly used in the food industry as a stabilizer, emulsifier and thickening agent in icing, fillings, soft candy, chewing gum and other confectionery and to bind the sweeteners and flavorings in soft drinks.
